Today was a big day for Max. At school, there are three levels of readers, and Max has been in the middle group, but today he was moved up to the advanced group. So he come home with a new set of books he will be reading. He read all three before I had even served the afternoon snack. He is really proud of himself. He would read a few lines out loud, then look up with a huge smile and say, Look at me!!

He also came up with a plan to quickly get the Lego Indiana Jones set he wants. The set cost $60 and he has been saving up his $3 allowance for several weeks. So he came to me with his plan. He said he will give me all his money, $18, and I will put up the rest of the cash, he estimated about $17. It wasn't sounding too good to me until he sweetened the deal. He said he will only take one dollar of his allowance from now on, and I can keep the other two dollars. That way, he explained, it will be a reward for me, too. I think that sounds pretty good, I could use $2 a week, Mark doesn't give me an allowance.
